What We Offer

The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) and Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) program offers administrative and technical support to schools and districts in planning, implementing and evaluating policies and programs that create and support a safe, alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free learning environment for students and school staff.

The SDFSC/TUPE Program

  • Facilitates networking and information sharing among schools and community agencies throughout Monterey County
  • Promotes the use of state and national research validated resources for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating classroom and school activities that involve parents and community members
  • Provides professional development services for educators and administrators on youth development and resiliency, bullying prevention, diversity awareness, violence prevention, and alcohol, tobacco, and drug use prevention
  • Supports districts in meeting mandates and funding requirements
  • Serves as liaison between districts and the California Department of Education Healthy Kids Program Office
  • Provides technical assistance to districts writing grants for violence prevention and TUPE competitive grants
