The CAT Resource Center is available Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for MCOE Staff members.  The center includes an Assistive Technology (AT) Training Lab with a loan library of adapted toys and educational materials. The Center also provides student Augmentative and Alternative and Assistive Technology (AAC & AT) assessments and consultation services, short and long term loan of AAC & AT Equipment.  The Lab is available to work on computer based and aided language stimulation activities.  Tech support by appointment.

 

A variety of workshops are offered free of charge to MCOE Staff and parents.  Classes to be presented include, Boardmaker, InteliTools Classroom Suite, Digital Media, and Mac OS X.  Call the CAT Resource Center to get on a list for the workshop(s) of your choice.  Notification will be via email.  Make sure you are on the Emailing list.

 

The CAT Resource Center has a variety of materials to give ideas to meet the requirements of California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA).  The focus is on materials and ideas to meet the California standards content for English-Language Arts, Mathematics and Science.

 

Another good resource for students is News-2-You, an Internet Weekly subscription available for classroom use.  There is an assortment of interactive games, puzzles, and cartoons for the students to experience through interaction on the computer.   It also has three levels of current events newspapers and two levels of Communication Boards.  Call Sue Thornton for a password.
